Yes, this is a big issue out there at the moment isnt it and I'm concerned about my daughter too with all of this.
It's not easy making the point though that it's best to have an alternative plan too, as you just come across as dull and not believing in them, when all you're saying is by all means go for your dream, but if it doesn't happen for all sorts of reasons (mainly that only an incy-wincy few ever make it in the celeb-game and then not for ever), be good if you've been working towards something else that you'll also enjoy that'll bring in the dosh when you're out on your own and want to have money to travel, socialise, buy stuff and live life to the full.
A friend of mine did say that her son who was only goinmg to be a footballer was now convinced that it might be an idea to also think about an apprienticeship after talking to someone at Connexions and so perhaps that's a good idea to get her to see an adviser on the basis of 'exploring how she'll realise her dream' (help her understand what she's got to do to achieve her stardom, not just a walk in the park) whilst they'll no doubt also put the flip side and back-up plan view too?
