An exciting new service has launched aiming to provide the parents of disabled children in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire with access to key information to help them care for their family. The IRIS project includes both a website and magazine and will cover everything from access to local services and leisure opportunities to national news and how it affects real people in the area, alongside providing vital information regarding transition points into and education and employment.
As well as the quarterly magazine and website the service is also be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive register of disabled children for both Nottingham city and the surrounding county. The central concept involves allowing parents to comment on existing and future services, empowering them to change provision for the better. The two person team responsible for IRIS is Project Manager Catherine Slater and Expert User/Administrator Tim Simpson.
