Connexions centre hosts
Nottingham Opportunities day
Young people, aged 16 to 19,
who were looking for work or training attended the Connexions
Nottinghamshire’s Opportunities day on Friday 4 September.
The event was arranged to
encourage young people interested in taking up an Apprenticeship or
other training opportunity to take that first step and come along
and see what opportunities are on offer in the area.
Fourteen of the area’s biggest training
providers, including Castle College, Access Training, NHTA
(Nottinghamshire Hair Training Association), VT Automotive and NETA
(Nottinghamshire Engineering Training Association) were present at
the event to talk about training options, with the possibility of
an on-the-spot application for some candidates in the
afternoon.
The day was very busy and a great
success, with many young people finding and signing up for training
opportunities.
Connexions Opportunities also
had a stand and chatted to young people about job and
training opportunities available throughout Nottinghamshire. Young
people also got help with searching Connexions job
vacancy site, Vacancies Online, which has 100s of job and training
opportunities through Nottinghamshire, plus CV building and
application writing.
Connexions Business Engagement Adviser
and event organiser, Ruth Mure says: “We're delighted with how
successful it's been. Despite the recession, it's great to see
so many young people attending keen to get into training. We've
been able to help match young people up to available
opportunities.”
