Summer work placements

Students in a classroom

Students Search for Summer Skills
School age students in Notts are now accessing work experience placements during summer holidays to boost their skills and prepare them for working life.  Education Business Futures, a local not-for- profit business, has launched a new service to match students to a local business for 2 weeks. The new service is responding to students keen to gain some vital work experience during the summer holidays.

Due to Government spending cuts and a proposed change in the law, many young people may miss out on work experience in the future.   With this service Education Business Futures seeks to plug the gap and satisfy demand for high quality, structured work experience.

Employers and local business people consistently observe that school leavers lack crucial employability skills including experience of the workplace.  Education Business Futures has a long history of organising work experience on behalf of Nottinghamshire schools, working to ensure that placements are safe and properly arranged.  This new service will allow students to be matched to particular career interests.

Matt Smart, Education Business Futures Manager said:
“It’s so competitive at the moment for young people when they are seeking employment.  Employers tell me constantly how much they value real work experience. By undertaking a placement during the summer, students can pick up key employability skills and a reference for future use.”

The service will be available during summer holidays with an arrangement fee of just £150, paid for by parents and carers.  To find out more about the service and to receive full details, parents and carers can email parents@futuresnn.co.uk or call 0115 960 1571.
