There are many benefits to be had from
going on to Higher Education (HE). And, with a wide variety of of
entry routes available more people are able to go to University or
study an HE course at college.
An HE course can give young people access to a wider choice of
careers with the potential to earn a relatively high salary. Recent
research reveals that graduates go on to earn, on average, 50 per
cent more than those who do not have a degree.
Going to University will also help your son or daughter develop
invaluable life skills as they increasingly gain independence and
learn to stand on their own two feet. Of course, it's also a
wonderful place to make many new friends and have lots of
fun!
Many FE colleges now offer HE courses, which means more choice,
particularly for this who might not want to move away to study. Not
to mention the fact we have two excellent Universities in
Nottingham - Nottingham University and Nottingham Trent
University.
Plus those of you who live to the north
of Nottinghamshire have excellent Universities in the shape of
Sheffield Hallam and Sheffield University. And with Derby and
Lincoln Universities easily accessible from
Nottinghamshire, your son or daughter can remain at home while they
study their HE course.
These days, there is more than one way to get an HE qualification.
The route depends on the qualifications taken after Year 11 and the
course your son or daughter wants to do!
