Starting the job search
So your teenager has left school and is looking for a job. If so, it's a good idea to encourage them to find a job with training as this builds on their skills and increases their employability. Or they could perhaps study part-time - the law states that 16 and 17 year olds have a right to time off work for qualifications up to Level 2.
Connexions Nottinghamshire is here to help them examine available opportunities and search for the right employment. So if your teenager is looking for a job, they should register with their local Connexions centre.
Once registered, their Connexions Personal Adviser can then help them work through their options. If your child is willing, you can also accompany them to their appointment. At their Connexions appointment, they'll also receive a 'Just the Job' pack, which has loads of information about where to search for work, how to fill in application forms, write CVs and letters and much more!
For job opportunities in Nottinghamshire, your son or daughter should check out vacancies info on SortItonline. This website has a lot of local opportunities suitable for young people. Your child will also be able to apply online for many of the vacancies listed.
