What can a Connexions Personal
Adviser help with?
Your daughter or son has a Connexions Personal Adviser who will
help them through this process. They can also advise you on other
ways of helping your child. Connexions Personal Advisers welcome
contact with parents and carers and are available to meet you
either at school or at your local Connexions Centre.
Connexions Personal Advisers can help with:
• deciding what your daughter or son can do when they leave
school
• understanding college, work or training options
• the implications of health problems on career choice
• housing and support
• worries about bullying, drugs or alcohol
• money and benefit entitlements.
They can also put you in touch with other professionals who can
help, for example social workers, health service staff and college
tutors.
Who else can
help?
There are many people who can help your daughter or son decide
what to do in the future. As well as a
Personal Adviser,
the following people can also help your child:
-
Teachers in school or college
-
A key worker (your daughter or son may have a key worker if they
live in residential care or visit a respite service)
-
A social worker (they may be able to get extra help)
-
