Work Experience
Work experience is now part of the
school curriculum and helps young people understand the ‘world of
work’. It gives young people the chance to spend up to two weeks in
a company, doing a job and finding out what it is really like.
In Year 10 or Year 11 your child will
probably get the chance to go on work experience. They will:
- Prepare for work experience in school
- Find out first hand about the ‘world of work’
- Keep a diary or workbook and collect information and answer
questions on your work
- Find out more about themselves and develop new skills
All of this can help them to make
decisions about their future career.
For more information speak to your
teenager's form tutor or personal adviser about work experience in
their school.
Help after leaving School
The Connexions Service continues to
help young people once they have left school or college. If your
son or daughter would like further advice on any matter related to
work, training or education they are welcome to contact their local
Connexions Service.
